September 2026 in New York
- September 7, 2026: Labor Day. A national holiday celebrating workers in the United States. A parade starts at 10 am on Fifth Avenue, from 44th Street to 64th Street.
- Through September 13, 2026: US Open tennis. Grand Slam tournament at Flushing Meadows.
- September 2026: Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit. About a hundred artists display their work outdoors around Washington Square in Greenwich Village.
- September 2026: Caribbean Carnival in Brooklyn. This festive event is organized by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association.
- September 2026: Brazilian Day. New York’s Brazilian community celebrates their country’s national holiday. Head to Little Brazil on 46th Street for Brazilian food stalls and music.
- September 9–13, 2026: New York Fashion Week. The fall edition of New York’s major fashion gathering.
- September 11, 2026: Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. A ceremony takes place at the 9/11 Memorial. In the evening, two columns of light mark the location of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
- September 2026: SoHo International Film Festival, a film festival in SoHo.
- September 10–20, 2026: Little Italy celebrates San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. Green, white and red fill New York’s Italian neighborhood!
- September 21, 2026: 57th edition of the African American Day Parade in Harlem. The parade starts at 1 pm at the corner of 111th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and runs down to 136th Street.
- September 27, 2026: End of baseball season.
October 2026 in New York
- October 12, 2026: Columbus Day, a holiday honoring Christopher Columbus, who reached the Americas. A parade with nearly 100 bands marches up Fifth Avenue from 47th Street to 72nd Street.
- October 17, 2026: Halloween Dog Parade in Tompkins Park in the East Village. Dogs parade through the park from 1 pm to 4 pm in the most unusual costumes.
- October 18, 2026: Pickle Day, celebrating the pickle—New York’s beloved pickled cucumber! The Lower East Side hosts tastings and music along Orchard Street.
- October 31, 2026: Halloween, the spooky season! In New York, ghosts and spirits parade through Greenwich Village. Find details on the Halloween events in New York.
November 2026 in New York
- November 2026: Start of the regular season for the NBA basketball championship and the NHL ice hockey championship.
- November 1, 2026: New York Marathon. As every year, the race starts on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and finishes in Central Park.
- November 11, 2026: Veterans Day. A national holiday honoring military veterans. A parade of soldiers and veterans marches up Fifth Avenue from 26th Street to 52nd Street, starting at 11:30 am.
- November 2026 through January 2027: Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Admire detailed model trains of New York set among the plants.
- November 26, 2026: Thanksgiving. In New York, the great Thanksgiving parade with its giant balloons celebrates its 90th edition. The parade starts at 9 am at the corner of 77th Street and Central Park West and runs down to Herald Square on 6th Avenue.
- November 27, 2026: Black Friday. This day brings huge sales throughout New York and the United States. Sales typically continue through the weekend. Arrive early for the best deals!
December 2026 in New York
- December 2, 2026: Lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. America’s largest Christmas tree will be illuminated through January 2027.
- December 2026: Santa Run. This fun race in Brooklyn requires all participants to dress as Santa Claus. No need to carry the sack, though!
- December 2026: Explore Dyker Heights, Brooklyn’s Christmas neighborhood. Find details on the Christmas tour of Dyker Heights. Book early—this tour is very popular during the holidays!
- December 31, 2026: New York celebrates the new year. If you don’t mind crowds, head to Times Square for the traditional crystal ball drop. Another option: watch fireworks light up New York Harbor.

- January 1, 2027: New Year’s Day. A national holiday in New York.
- Through January 10, 2027: Discover the amazing Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. An enormous model train display set in a New York City landscape!
- Through January 14, 2027: Admire the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, at the base of the Comcast Building, home to the Top of the Rock observation deck. The tree is lit daily from 6 pm to midnight.
- January 18, 2027: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A national holiday honoring the American pastor and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis.
February 2027 in New York
- February 11–16, 2027: New York Fashion Week. Don’t be surprised if you spot unusually dressed people on New York’s streets—it’s fashion week!

- February 14, 2027: Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown. The dragon-led procession starts at 1 pm at the corner of Mott Street and Canal Street. Festivities continue until 4:30 pm. Happy Year of the Fire Goat!
March 2027 in New York
- March 17, 2027: St. Patrick’s Day in New York. Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday, the traditional Irish parade takes place on Monday, March 17.
- March 21, 2027: New York Half Marathon. The 21.1 km (13.1 mi) course runs from Brooklyn through the Financial District and Times Square to Central Park.
- March 24, 2027: Start of baseball season. This year, the New York Yankees open the season with their first game away in San Francisco. Experience a baseball game at Yankee Stadium in New York!
- March 26 through April 4, 2027: New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center.
- March 28, 2027: Easter Parade in New York. The traditional hat parade takes place on Fifth Avenue between 49th Street and 57th Street, starting at 10 am.

- April 10, 2027: National Tartan Day Parade. New York’s Scottish community parades in kilts on 6th Avenue from 45th Street to 54th Street. The parade starts at 2 pm.
- Through April 27, 2027: Orchid Festival at the New York Botanical Garden. An exhibition featuring hundreds of orchids.

- May 2, 2027: TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Bike through all five boroughs of New York!
- May 8, 2027: Japan Day. New York’s Japanese community gathers at 11 am on 72nd Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. The parade runs until 5 pm.
- May 9, 2027: Mother’s Day in the USA. The Bronx Botanical Garden hosts a garden party.
- May 15–16, 2027: Ninth Avenue International Food Festival. 9th Avenue hosts a major food festival with cuisines from around the world.
- May 28–31, 2027: DanceAfrica 2027, a festival celebrating African dance in Brooklyn.
- May 31, 2027: Memorial Day, a national holiday honoring soldiers who died in combat.
- Late May 2027: Dumbo Drop. Head to Brooklyn, in the Dumbo neighborhood, for the Dumbo Drop. Hundreds of small elephants are dropped from the roofs of buildings lining Washington Street. Drops at 3 pm and 5 pm.
June 2027 in New York
- June 8, 2027: 70th edition of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. New York’s Puerto Rican community organizes this parade on Fifth Avenue.
- June 8, 2027: Museum Mile Festival. Museums on Fifth Avenue offer free admission from 6 pm to 9 pm. Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Guggenheim Museum for free.
- June 19, 2027: Coney Island Mermaid Parade. A wild parade celebrating sea mythology along Surf Avenue in Coney Island. The parade starts at 1 pm.
- June 26, 2027: Gay Pride in Greenwich Village.
July 2027 in New York
- July 4, 2027: Independence Day. A national holiday celebrating the United States. Fireworks light up New York Harbor in the evening.
- July 4, 2027: Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. This traditional contest, held by a Coney Island restaurant, challenges competitors to eat as many hot dogs as possible. Current records: 69 hot dogs for men and 45 hot dogs for women.
- July 14, 2027: Bastille Day. New York’s French community celebrates France’s national holiday.
August 2027 in New York
- August 12–15, 2027: The Giglio Feast of Saint Antonio in Harlem. An annual celebration by New York’s Italian community on Pleasant Avenue between 114th and 116th Street.
- August 2027: Summer Movies under the Stars at Bryant Park. Watch classic films at 8 pm.
- August 30 through September 12, 2027: US Open tennis at Flushing Meadows in Queens.
