Day 1: Arrival in New York
AFTERNOON – Times Square
- Your first day depends on when your flight arrives. If you’re spending only 4 days in New York, book an early flight to gain a full half-day of sightseeing.
- Clear immigration, collect your luggage, and head to your hotel. Then make your way to Times Square, the heart of Manhattan. You’ll be struck by the forest of skyscrapers lit by countless neon signs. Welcome to New York!
- If you arrive early enough, add a visit to the Art Deco complex at Rockefeller Center and climb to Top of the Rock, one of New York’s finest observation decks.
Day 2: Lower Manhattan
MORNING – Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
- Use jet lag to your advantage and wake early to catch one of the first ferries to the Statue of Liberty. This iconic symbol of America deserves a close-up visit, even on a short trip. It’s an unforgettable experience you’ll remember for years.
- The ferry continues to Ellis Island. Get off and explore the impressive main hall, then enjoy the sweeping views of Manhattan’s skyline. Head back to Manhattan by late morning for a leisurely lunch in the Financial District.
AFTERNOON – Financial District
- Walk through the Financial District and head up Broadway to the Charging Bull. Then explore Wall Street, New York’s famous stock exchange, and the impressive Federal Hall.
- Head west to the World Trade Center. Don’t miss the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and One World Trade Center, New York’s tallest building.
- Late in the day, consider visiting One World Observatory at the top of One World Trade Center. Alternatively, book a helicopter tour of New York in advance for a panoramic view of the city.
Day 3: Brooklyn Bridge to Midtown
MORNING – Brooklyn Bridge to Greenwich Village
- Jet lag should help you wake early again. Use it to cross the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn. You’ll have the sun at your back and stunning views of the Financial District. You’ll even spot the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.
- Once in Manhattan, head to Chinatown, then continue through Little Italy. Make a quick stop in SoHo, known for fashion and its distinctive cast-iron buildings. Grab lunch at a SoHo café or in Greenwich Village to the north. This bohemian neighborhood is perfect for a break, especially in Washington Square Park.
AFTERNOON – Midtown
- Head north to explore Midtown. Walk 42nd Street starting from Bryant Park. Along the way, you’ll see SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, and the UN Headquarters.
- Late afternoon, head to the top of the Empire State Building for one of the best views in New York. You’ll have Manhattan spread below you from an open-air observation deck.
- Alternatively, continue north to visit Rockefeller Center if you haven’t already. Go to the top of Top of the Rock, the observation deck atop the Comcast Building. The sunset views are spectacular from the open-air upper platform.
Day 4: Rockefeller Center and Central Park
MORNING – Rockefeller Center and Central Park
- If you haven’t visited Rockefeller Center yet, do it on your last day. Just spend less time at the top. Morning views of Lower Manhattan will complement what you saw from the Empire State Building.
- Then head to Central Park, the city’s iconic green space. You won’t see everything, but here are the 10 must-see spots in Central Park. Focus on the southern section, which has the most to offer.
- If you’ve already seen Rockefeller Center, spend your whole morning on a guided bike tour of Central Park.
AFTERNOON – Heading to the Airport
- Depending on your flight time, return to your hotel to collect your luggage. If your flight is late evening, you might have time for shopping in Midtown or a quick visit to a neighborhood you’ve missed, such as Hudson Yards and the High Line elevated park.
- Don’t venture far from the airport or climb another observation deck. You can’t risk missing your flight home. This 4-day trip should leave you wanting to come back.
