Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Macaulay Culkin isn't the only star of Home Alone 2. This time, the young boy shares the spotlight with New York City!

The Story of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
- Released in 1992, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is the sequel to Home Alone, which came out in 1990. The first film followed the adventures of 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), accidentally left behind by his family as they rushed off to Paris.
- History repeats itself in this second installment: while the McCallisters plan a peaceful Christmas in Florida, Kevin boards the wrong plane and ends up in New York. Lucky for him, he has his father’s credit card in his pocket and can live it up and enjoy Christmas in New York!
- There’s one problem, though: Kevin runs into the two crooks who tried to rob his house in the first film. The burglars, Marvin and Harry, have just been released from prison and are determined to get revenge…
New York in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
- The iconic location in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is undoubtedly the Plaza Hotel, the luxury hotel where Kevin stays. This historic palace sits on Grand Army Plaza, at the southwest corner of Central Park and Fifth Avenue. Be sure to take a look at the lobby! Kevin has an unusual encounter when he arrives in the Plaza’s lobby: he asks for directions from none other than Donald Trump, already a major New York businessman at the time.
- Other filming locations include LaGuardia Airport and the Queensboro Bridge, which Kevin crosses in a vintage taxi.
- The boy also naturally visits New York’s major attractions: a photo stop in front of Radio City Music Hall and also at Battery Park, to admire the Statue of Liberty. A visit to Central Park is also a must: near the Gapstow Bridge, just steps from the Plaza Hotel.
- Kevin also goes to the top of the Twin Towers. The images of the World Trade Center’s twin towers carry a particularly poignant meaning today…
