• You can explore the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan on foot, but there’s a better option: rent a bike. It’s fun, affordable, and lets you cover more ground without wearing yourself out.
• The bike rental shop is located in South Street Seaport, at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side. From here, you have two main routes. You can start with the Lower East Side (including Chinatown and Little Italy), then head to the Financial District to see One World Trade Center, World Financial Center, Wall Street, and Battery Park. Or go straight onto the Brooklyn Bridge, which has a dedicated bike lane.
• Once in Brooklyn, continue to Dumbo and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Then head back across the Brooklyn Bridge to return your bike to South Street Seaport.
• If you have time and energy, consider extending your ride to Red Hook. Plan for a full day to see everything and really enjoy the neighborhoods.

• This popular rental shop fills up quickly, so book your bike in advance through the bike rental reservation system.
• Choose your rental duration: 1, 2, 4, 10, or 24 hours. We recommend at least 2 hours—there’s plenty to see in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. With a full day or 24-hour rental, you can even reach Central Park. The bike path along the Hudson River is especially scenic.
• After payment, you’ll receive a voucher to print or save on your phone, with all the details including the rental shop’s address. Show your voucher at the shop and you’re ready to go.
• Your rental includes the bike, taxes, a helmet, a lock, and a detailed map of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge. The bike also has a basket for your belongings.
• Traveling with kids? Baby seats and child trailers are available for an extra fee. Electric bikes are also available for an additional charge, payable at the shop.
