Discover New York from Brooklyn Heights Promenade
For stunning views of New York, head to Brooklyn Heights Promenade. A must-visit spot for photographers and anyone seeking iconic Manhattan vistas.

Where is the Brooklyn Heights Promenade in New York?
- As its name suggests, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade sits on the heights of Brooklyn. Add it to your itinerary when you explore the Brooklyn Bridge.
- The promenade offers sweeping views of the Financial District skyline, One World Trade Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, and New York Harbor with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the distance.
- The promenade stretches nearly 600 m (1,970 ft). To get there, take the subway line 2 or 3 to Clark St in Brooklyn, then head up Clark Street toward the East River. The view appears suddenly before you.
When to visit the Brooklyn Heights Promenade
- Visit the Brooklyn Heights Promenade in the morning to catch sunlight on Manhattan’s buildings, or in the evening to watch the sunset. Either way, find a bench facing the view and take in the scene.
- One thing to know: the promenade can be quite noisy. It was built in 1950 to cover a soundproof tunnel that encloses the highway connecting Brooklyn to Queens. At the south end of the promenade, you’ll see traffic flowing below. The view, however, remains spectacular.

What visitors say
- Amélie Billon: “The perfect way to experience this area is to take a walk through Brooklyn, explore the beautiful brownstone houses of Brooklyn Heights, and then discover the promenade. The views are absolutely stunning!“
