City Climb: Climb a New York Skyscraper!
Experience something truly unique in New York: climb the outer facade of The Edge skyscraper to nearly 366 meters high. The world's highest outdoor building climb!

What Was City Climb at New York?
- City Climb was a one-of-a-kind experience in New York. We use the past tense because this attraction closed at the end of 2025. The information below is archived for reference only. Perhaps it will reopen someday?
- The Edge observatory offered visitors the chance to climb the building’s exterior facade along an open-air staircase that rose to the top of 30 Hudson Yards. City Climb held the record for the world’s highest outdoor building ascent.
- You would reach a panoramic platform at the very summit of the skyscraper, nearly 366 m (1,200 ft) high. No railings, no glass—just a steel platform at the edge of the void. Don’t worry: you’d be equipped with a harness attached to a safety line, and the experience was completely secure. Thrilling sensations and spectacular views across all of New York.
- The climb offered breathtaking views of the city. You could see the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Statue of Liberty within arm’s reach.
How Did City Climb Work?
- To experience this, you had to book tickets as far in advance as possible through the City Climb booking system. Spots were extremely limited each day, and demand was high.
- On the day of your climb, you’d head to The Edge observatory. Present your tickets and meet your guide. They would explain how the experience works and go over safety procedures. You’d put on safety gear, then strap on your harness and helmet.
- Ready? All that was left was to step outside the building and begin your ascent to the top. Once on the panoramic platform, your guide would encourage you to lean out over the edge. Expect dizzying photos and an unforgettable memory.
- Back inside, your guide would give you the official City Climb medal and a video of your climb.
- City Climb tickets also included access to The Edge observatory. You could recover from the adrenaline by taking in views of New York from the observation deck for as long as you wanted.
