What to Know About Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights
- The Bronx Zoo transforms from November 20, 2026 to January 3, 2027 with Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights, the zoo’s festival of illuminations. Millions of LED lights and impressive lit structures bring the grounds to life.
- Six pathways feature hundreds of illuminated animal sculptures that come alive after dark. Walk through an African savanna with elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and monkeys. Look up to spot sloths hanging in the trees. The underwater world appears too, with dolphins, sea turtles, coral, and aquatic plants. Magical creatures and surprises await around every corner.
- Interactive attractions include the Enchanted Sea. A large hall transforms into an ocean complete with giant jellyfish and lights from the depths. Children can control the lights on illuminated walls. It’s a brilliant experience.
- New for 2026/2027: the zoo reopens the Freeze Zone. This area features massive snow slides, talking snowmen, and an illuminated ice throne where you can pose for photos. There’s also a snowball wall where children can throw virtual snowballs at each other.

- Tickets for Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights must be purchased in advance. No tickets are sold at the gate. The zoo manages attendance this way to prevent overcrowding on the pathways.
- Use our ticket booking module for Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights. Select your visit date, entry time, and number of tickets, then complete payment. You’ll receive your tickets by email immediately after purchase.
- Book early—Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights is one of the major events during Christmas in New York.
- A regular Bronx Zoo ticket does not grant entry to Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights. Visitors with standard zoo tickets must leave by 3 pm. Only those with Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights festival tickets can stay for the afternoon and evening. Children under 2 enter free.

- Hours: Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights operates on select dates. Open dates in 2026 and 2027: November 21–23, November 28–30, December 4–7, December 11–14, December 18–23, December 26–31, 2026, and January 2–3, 2027. The zoo opens at 3 pm and closes at 9 pm, until 10 pm on weekends.
