What You Need to Know About The Beast Cruise

  • New York offers many ways to see the city from the water. You’ll find a full range of options in our New York cruises section, from sailing trips to dinner cruises to the famous sunset cruise. But The Beast is something entirely different.
  • Here’s what sets it apart: The Beast is a speedboat that races across the water at 72 km/h (45 mph), nothing like the calm, leisurely cruises you’ll find elsewhere. Think of it as the Formula 1 of the seas! 🙂
  • After boarding at Pier 83 on the Hudson River at 42nd Street, the speedboat heads down the Hudson toward the Statue of Liberty. You’ll stop there briefly for photos before the captain opens the throttle and you’re off again!
  • The captain loves sharp turns and sudden acceleration. Want to get soaked? Ask to sit “at the pool”—that’s the front of the boat. Prefer to stay dry? Head to the back, where the boat is wider.
  • After 30 minutes of thrills, you’ll return to Pier 83.
