What you need to know about New York’s New Year’s Eve cruise

  • Every December 31st, fireworks light up New York Harbor to ring in the new year. The display launches from barges near the Statue of Liberty. To watch from the best vantage point, you’ll want to be aboard a Circle Line vessel—the company that organizes the celebration.
  • Here’s how the evening unfolds: arrive at Pier 83 before 9 pm. After boarding procedures, the ship departs at 10 pm and heads down the Hudson toward the Statue of Liberty. You’ll have stunning views of the Manhattan skyline the entire way.
  • On board, enjoy appetizers from the buffet and an open bar featuring cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits. A DJ keeps the energy going all night.
  • At midnight, you’ll receive a glass of champagne as the fireworks reach their peak. The boat returns to Pier 83 around 1 am.
