What is a shared shuttle transfer?
- A shared shuttle is a van service that connects New York’s airports to Manhattan hotels on arrival and departure. The service runs 24/7 from and to New York’s JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports.
- The shuttle is “shared” because each van holds up to 11 passengers, each with one checked bag and one carry-on. On the outbound journey, the driver drops each passenger at their hotel. On the return, the driver picks you up from your hotel and takes you to the airport.
- A round-trip booking gives you a small discount compared to the combined price of two one-way transfers.
How to take a shared shuttle
Outbound: airport to hotel
- Before your flight, book your outbound and return transfers through our shared shuttle booking system. Select your outbound transfer date, number of passengers, and arrival airport in New York. You don’t need to specify your return transfer date yet. Once you pay, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a voucher to print.
- After landing in New York, collect your baggage and go to the Ground Transportation counter. Everything is clearly marked. Show your voucher, and the attendant will give you a ticket and assign you to the next available shared shuttle.
- Your shuttle driver will meet you at the Ground Transportation counter and take you to the van. Give the driver your ticket and baggage, then board. The drive to Manhattan takes about 45 minutes.
- The price includes the transfer and taxes. Plan on $2–3 per person for the driver’s tip, depending on your satisfaction.
Return: hotel to airport
- At least 24 hours before your return flight, call the phone number on your voucher to confirm your transfer. Provide your confirmation number and flight time. I recommend giving a time one hour earlier than your actual flight time to allow for traffic delays. Tip: your hotel’s concierge or front desk staff can make this call for you. If they do, give them a small tip.
- On departure day, be ready on time with your baggage at your hotel entrance. The shuttle will pick you up. Show the driver the voucher you received by email. Then you’re off. The drive to the airport takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.
- As with the outbound transfer, the price includes the transfer and taxes. Add $2–3 per person for the driver’s tip.
