What to Know About Modern Pinball NYC Arcade Museum

  • Among all the museums in New York, this one stands apart. Modern Pinball NYC Arcade Museum is entirely dedicated to pinball machines.
  • This isn’t a dusty museum where you read about pinball history through endless displays and explanations. The whole point is to actually play the 32 pinball machines on display. It’s your turn to play.
  • The museum was founded in 2013 by Steve Epstein, a former arcade owner on Times Square, and Steve Zahler, New York’s reigning pinball champion and the 14th-ranked player in the United States. The space functions as both a museum and a showroom: if you fall in love with a machine, you can order one for your home.

What to See at Modern Pinball NYC Arcade Museum

  • The museum’s concept is simple: play. You purchase a pass that gives you unlimited access to all the pinball machines. Four options are available: one hour, two hours, three hours, or a full day. Rack up high scores and make your mark on New York.
  • Move from machine to machine to experience each one. Try the Metallica hard-rock themed pinball or test your powers on Spider-Man. Don’t miss the Beatles, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars machines either.
  • At the back of the museum, you’ll also find arcade cabinets—the classic video games that filled cafes in the 1980s and 1990s. A real trip back in time.
