Mmuseumm: the world’s smallest museum in New York
Mmuseumm is no ordinary museum. This New York museum is the world's smallest! Here's what awaits you...

What to Know About Mmuseumm
- Located at the southern tip of Manhattan in TriBeCa, Mmuseumm is arguably the world’s most unusual and smallest museum. Created in 2016 inside a former freight elevator that opens directly onto the street, it occupies one of the most compact spaces imaginable.
- The concept? Display everyday objects to “tell the story of the modern world.” As the founders explain, “it’s object journalism.”
- The museum operates seasonally, from late April through late fall. The collection of objects changes each year.
What to See at Mmuseumm
- The elevator shaft displays six shelves across three walls, packed with an eclectic mix of objects. We won’t spoil the surprises inside, but past seasons have featured items like a shampoo bottle, two dice handcrafted in prison, and a coin used by ISIS in Syria.
- Just outside, you’ll find the museum’s shop and café. True to form, it’s housed in a narrow cabinet built into the building’s facade—Mmuseumm’s commitment to tiny spaces continues here too.
