What You Need to Know About New York’s Hip Hop Museum

  • The Hip Hop Museum celebrates hip hop culture, a musical movement born in the Bronx during the 1970s. This new museum is scheduled to open by the end of 2026 in the Bronx neighborhood of New York. No official opening date has been announced yet, and the project may experience some delays.
  • The Hip Hop Museum was founded by Rocky Bucano, a former DJ who became a promoter and production company director. He discovered and produced several well-known DJs, including Kool DJ Dee, DJ Hollywood, Eddie Cheeba, and Grandmaster Flash.
  • In 2014, Rocky Bucano decided to establish a hip hop museum in the Bronx. The project proved more challenging than expected, and the Covid crisis added further complications. Today, the project is moving forward thanks to partnerships with major organizations including MIT, YouTube, and Microsoft.
