What to Know About The Torch in New York

  • The Torch is under construction at 740 Eighth Avenue, at the corner of 46th Street in New York. The project is expected to be completed in 2027, but this extraordinary building is already generating significant attention.
  • The Torch will reach 325 m (1,066 ft) tall—6 m (20 ft) higher than the Chrysler Building and 25 m (82 ft) taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The 51-story building’s distinctive design draws inspiration from the torch of the Statue of Liberty. This unusual and decidedly futuristic design comes from Israeli-American architect Eran Chen of New York–based ODA Architecture.
  • The building will house a hotel, so you’ll be able to stay in this tower that will soon become an iconic New York landmark. The hotel will even have its own swimming pool.

Can You Visit The Torch?

  • Add this remarkable building to your New York sightseeing itinerary, even if you don’t stay at the hotel. The Torch will feature an observation deck at its summit with a 360-degree view of New York—expect spectacular vistas. The building sits just steps from Times Square, in the heart of the Theater District.
  • You’ll have the Empire State Building and the towers of Hudson Yards within view, with the Hudson River on the horizon. To the north, you’ll see Central Park and the towers of Midtown. That’s a fresh perspective on New York.
  • But there’s more. The Torch will also feature a drop tower nearly 80 m (262 ft) tall, like those at amusement parks. You’ll settle into a capsule that rises slowly before plummeting into free fall. Thrills guaranteed.
  • A restaurant will occupy the floor just below the observation deck, offering dining with unobstructed views of New York.
