The Story Behind the Hamilton Musical
- Hamilton tells the story of America’s birth through the life of one of its founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton. At just 19 years old, the young man enrolls at King’s College in New York, now Columbia University, but the American Revolution thrusts him onto the battlefield. His bravery quickly catches the attention of George Washington, who offers him a position as his aide-de-camp.
- Created in 2004, this musical is far from your typical biography! The show brilliantly blends historical facts with the influence of today’s hip-hop and hard R&B. It’s a combination that really packs a punch. Another clever touch from the producers: several white historical figures are played by Black actors on stage.
