The Story of Buena Vista Social Club
- The musical tells the story of Buena Vista Social Club, the legendary Cuban musical group. The band was founded in 1996 by Nick Gold and Ry Cooder, reviving the name of a mythical nightclub in Havana from the 1930s. It was a worldwide sensation! The group performed around the world until 2015, when they embarked on their farewell tour.
- The Broadway musical brings to life the group’s greatest hits, including the iconic “Chan Chan.” Their first album, recorded in 1996, was awarded a Grammy Award, the highest honor in the music industry in the United States.
- The Broadway show was created with the help of several band members, including guitarists and singers Juan de Marcos González and Eliades Ochoa, as well as guitarist Barbarito Torres. And let’s not forget the group’s iconic singer, Omara Portuondo. The stage will transport you to Old Havana to the sounds of salsa!
