Founded in 1851 by John Kiehl, Kiehl’s is one of the oldest cosmetics brands in the United States. Originally, it was not a beauty brand but a small traditional pharmacy.

Owned by the French group LVMH, Sephora is obviously present in the United States. But if I am indicating this address in our New York shopping guide it is because the flagship of the brand is indeed in New York, on 5th Avenue. Ulta Beauty is one of the largest cosmetics chains in the United States. It was founded in 1990 and it quickly expanded, with over a thousand stores in the USA today. This American version of Sephora sells more than 20,000 products, from perfumes to makeup products, body products or shampoos.

Zitomer
This pharmacy was founded in 1950 by Irving Zitomer, a few steps from Central Park, in the heart of the chic Upper East Side neighborhood. But the small pharmacy quickly transformed into a high-end store that now spreads over 3 floors. The aisles showcase all the big cosmetics brands, including Roger & Gallet, Bulgari, Lazartigue, René Furterer or Phyto.
